Kaii stared at the doctor for a moment. Not showing an inch of emotion. It was a tough battle the young todd has to fight to not show weakness in front of this grizzled marten. Not that he was ashamed of it, he simply wasn't used to doing so safe still. He only thus far had opened to few beasts and was making huge progress in showing his emotional sphere... But here was a beast that did try to arrest him for exactly that, for being himself.
Ultimately he found a middle ground. He didn't collapse emotionally and stayed strong enough to not be weak, while also not detaching himself fully.
He leaned into the embrace, sharing a bear hug with the marten for a good moment.
Parting, he gave a small smile to the chirurgeon and exhaled. "I appreciate your compassion. Those years were cruel indeed, however that did show to many that we should cooperate more, no matter who we are. Mister Barrett, I will appreciate joining you in this endeavour, making the life on The Hide and maybe outside it less painful to many." Kaii stated and offered his paw.
