What is Official Lore, and how does it vary from Player Lore? Is Player Lore non-canon or something?
The VI operates on something called "levels of canon", that is, while all things posted might be canon, if there is a conflict between a higher level of canon and a lower level of canon, the higher of level canon wins out when it comes to questions. In order of priority for the VI, from highest to lowest, it goes Official Lore, then Approved Player Lore, then things in various RP threads and character biographies. This is to keep a consistent setting and resolve any disputes.
Can my Player Lore be "upgraded" to Official Lore?
Yes! Your player lore can eventually be upgraded to Official Lore, and receive the highest level of canon, although this will involve deeply fleshing out a particular topic or area and receiving the approval of the entirety of the VI staff.
