Physical Description
Nikolas Blackthorn is a large and stern looking young beast. To many he appears as a symbol of a no nonsense kind of superiority with his large stature and the dark colors of his uniform looming over many of the locals. Yet a more keen eye can see past his naturally intimidating appearance revealing his near constant state of exhaustion. Tired and frustrated eyes, the constant look of disappointment, and the unenthusiastic tone in his voice all show his true nature. Not that of an intense and dangerous beast, but actually one who simply wants to be left alone and have a quiet day for once.
Nikolas also has an athletic build that is actually more slender than most badgers due to his background as a marathon athlete in university where he studied law. He also has a scar on his stomach from a fencing accident while trying to appease his father and participating in a more “gentlemanly sport”.
Inventory and Real Estate
Nikolas is the son of Ferdinand Blackthorn, the wealthy owner of a large shipbuilding company. But due to rather heated disagreements. Nikolas does not live with his family in the insanely rich part of town. Instead, Nikolas lives alone in a more well off condo in the trenches closer to the market despite having a trust fund thanks to his mother, he primarily lives off his wages as a Fogey out of spite towards his father.
Nikolas also has a rather expensive piano in his home that he can be heard playing typically on the rare days off he gets.
He often also is seen with his standard issue rapier and club from the department.
Personality
Nikolas is a respectful and well mannered beast that originally hails from the insanely rich area but often downplays this as a way to distance himself from the lifestyle he used to be acclimated to. He has a strong distaste towards the mentality of nobility and the ultra wealthy as he believes that “They are so blinded by their wants they fail to the needs of those around them.” He has a strong sense of justice thanks to an old weasel fogey named Yohann Junslow who practically filled the role of a father figure to him as Nikolas’s actual father was far too busy to be bothered with parenting.
Although now being a Fogey himself who unfortunately is tasked with patrolling the Slups, Nikolas has become perpetually exhausted due to wearing himself thin on the daily trying to make the Slups a better place. The rampant crime has left him constantly disappointed in the locals as it seems no matter how crazy he thinks they are, they somehow always surpass his expectations. Now all he wants is just one, just one day that doesn’t involve chasing someone or getting Old Mrs Gertrude off her roof.

History
Born in 1743, Nikolas is the son of Ferdinand and Maria Blackthorn. His father Ferdinand is the owner of Blackthorn Shipyards, a large shipbuilding company that initially grew during the revolutions thanks to Ferdinand’s aggressively opportunistic business tactics and carefully operating as a third party selling his ships to both sides during the civil war before fully offering exclusive business to the clear victors before the war ended. Nikolas always had a strained relationship with his primarily absent father who believed he was far too busy and the servants were good enough parenting from him. After constantly trying to win his father’s approval for years he would latch on to a weasel fogey named Yohann Junslow who was the one to fill the void Nikolas was desperately trying to fill.
It was Yohann that encouraged Nikolas to follow his passion as an athlete and in turn inspired him to study law with aspirations of becoming a lawyer which infuriated his father as it was expected of Nikolas to study business and take over the family industry. This rift between him and his father came to blows as shortly after Constable Junslow died attempting to stop a mugging gone wrong. Shortly after the funeral his father made an ultimatum, abandon what his father referred to as “delusions” and work in the family business where he belongs or leave the family estate. Nikolas didn’t even hesitate with his answer and immediately went to join the fogeys.
Now he lives on his own away from the ire of his father and yet things are not all good for Nikolas, due to criticizing some of the legal choices of the department to the wrong beasts that just so happened to be in charge of establishing routes for fogey’s on patrol duty. Nikolas is now perpetually assigned to patrol the Slups much to his dismay. Yet he still has some of that Blackthorn stubbornness and refuses to break despite the best efforts of his opposition. Unfortunately it has been a rather taxing endeavor.
