Marianna nuzzled against Ivo, slipping her arms around him and stepping into his embrace. "I know," she murmured. "I trust your judgment; you're the one beast I do trust that way. I just... Sometimes it gets exhausting, always being on guard. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be easier just to put my faith in others. I remember reading my mother's obituary, about how kind she was, how beloved, how she always put herself out to help others, and I wondered if I could be that way... Then I remembered that those were the characteristics that got her killed, and I just felt... sad." She buried her face in his chest as she murmured, "I'm tired, that's all. It's been a long day."

Slowly, gently and not letting go of Marianna, Ivo leaned back to once more end up on the bed. This time with the beast he by all means preferred to be with in bed. He didn't have much salacious intents now though. He just wanted to give Marianna some of that rest and well, he too needed it.

"Room's ours fer a day. We can jus' rest. 'tis okay if ya need too..." He gently patted her back and let out a small soft chuckle, bringing his head down closer to her ear and lowering his voice, softening it into a pleasant hum. "We both get sum 'ard time with trustin'. I know meself well that being always on guard ain't easy. Would be nicer t' jus' not have t' do so... but world is as is. We've got one another, that's a good start."

The red fox then leaned back into the bed again, enjoying having Marianna draped over him fully. "An well. Yer mother sounds like a type of beast we need more in this world. We could'e been 'at way... should we've gotten better chance at lives. But, with what we've got, still we can jus' do our best."

Marianna curled into Ivo's embrace, letting the exhaustion wash over her now that she no longer had to be upright. Her voice was quiet for a moment before she softly inquired, "Do you ever wonder about your parents? Who they were, if they loved you, if they missed you after you were gone? If they might still be out there, alive?" She peeked up at him, curiosity and concern both adding a shimmer to her eyes.

Ivo looked back into Marianna's eyes, holding her more tightly as he focused on responding without emotions tugging him around too much. She was his anchor, one he needed to answer her this very question. "I've used t' 'ate 'em. I don't know a thing 'bout 'em, but I was mad at 'em fer leavin' me, no matter if they're dead or not. Maybe why I've got raised in hate t' all things that other kits had. Copin' with t' fact I'd never have it." He paused for a moment and continued in much quieter, unsure tone. "But... Now I jus' wanna believe t'was t'best they could've done fer me. Whatever happened to 'em, I don't wanna live with idea that they're bad beasts. Maybe am jus' stupidly idealistic, but If I getta 'scape the gutter an' not be full of hate, then they prolly weren't all rotten either."

Marianna was quiet for a moment, burying her face in Ivo's chest. "I can't believe they were rotten," she said quietly, "because I know you aren't. I see the caring, concerned, careful todd you are, and I can't believe that came all from the gang who took you in. I have to believe that part of you came from them, because I want that to be the part of you that..." She hesitated, debating if now was the moment. She took a deep breath, then continued, "...that passes on to our kit."

Ivo sighed and smiled softly. The trust Marianna had in him was truly the most wonderful thing he ever experienced. "Aye, definitely I'd love 'at being the ca..."

He caught up. Realising that her hesitation wasn't just a case of shyness. After all, Marianna was anything but shy.

Pulling up his paw and gently grasping her muzzle, Ivo directed it away from his chest. Looking into her eyes as his own ones glassed with tears.

"Well... sniff. Am..." He shuddered a bit and took a long breath to level himself. "No matter what, am sure we'll raise'em t' be like that. They'll be our best parts... and I can't wait to meet'em."

Moving his head forward, Ivo kissed Marianna. Anchoring himself in the revelation while realising one thing.

He was taken by surprise, but he was very very fine with the idea of having family with Marianna now that it was a reality.

Even before he knew of the difficulties ahead, even spoke about them with his dearest vixen before.

And now that it was real, he just knew they will manage. He trusted Marianna and himself.

Marianna blinked away tears as she kissed Ivo, her shoulders sagging as she rested herself in his embrace. As they broke their kiss, she hurried to murmur a few assurances. "If you become scared or unsure, or decide you aren't ready, I won't hold it against you. Fatherhood is... It's a big responsibility, and I'll never pressure you. I won't lie," she managed a choked laugh, "I'm scared out of my mind, but... but I also want this kit, whether their father will be involved or not. So, if you decide you can't do it, I won't hate you for it, and I'll never keep your kit from you if you decide to be involved later. I want you to raise this kit with me because you want it, not out of honor or duty or obligation."

She knew that in the upper echelons of society she brushed against, her condition while unwed would be a scandal, but among the Slups-dwellers and denizens of the Trenches, such was hardly uncommon. Life kept finding a way, as it had for thousands of years. If it came to it, she knew she'd be far from the first unwed single mother in Bully Harbor, and she was far better positioned for it than most. Still, she looked into Ivo's eyes, hoping that the love and happiness she saw in his eyes was genuine and not just for her benefit in the moment.

"Shhh, Mari... ya needn't say more." Ivo said as soon as Marianna stopped speaking, putting his pat on the tip of her snout and giving her a wide smile, one that despite his scarred face, was as warm and full of joy as possible.

"I did tell ye I wanna kits. I'll do me best to raise 'em and t' give 'em everythin' I never got. More importantly, I wanna do so with ye. I know ya wish fer the same sooo... let's jus' do our best. As with everythin', I trust ye. Unconditionally." He said and wrapped his most beloved vixen into his arms and tail, nuzzling into her head softly, letting his tears slowly wet his fur while purring almost as if he was a cat.

Ivo was not lying, he wanted this. He spoke so at the festival. Mentioned it before many times in their conversations. He wanted for some kits in this city to be loved and raised with caring parents.

And if those kits were his? All the better.

Marianna's relief was palpable as she nuzzled her partner, kissing his cheek softly. "Okay," she agreed, pulling back to smile at him. "We'll figure it out together. At least we know the bar is set very low when it comes to outdoing out own parents." Her smile turned mischievous as she added, "If you go out and buy a ring tomorrow, though, I'm going to be very upset with you. I don't want to get married just so the kit is born in-wedlock. I'm more than fine with waiting until we're both ready for that bond, kit or no kit."

Ivo chuckled at her words and relaxed under her, his elation giving to his coy playfulness. Just hearing Marianna say those things made him raise his thanks deep inside to mother anarchy for the fact he could ever meet and get with Marianna. More so that she felt the same as he did.

However for that specific remark she had, Ivo only had one rebuke.

"'Bout that... since we're doin' big reveals t'night, Imma jus' say I won't do so. I've already bought ye a ring, ya jus' gotta wait till 'at day we're both there."

It was rare for Marianna to look shocked; the expression as her mouth dropped open was priceless. "You..." Tears started to gather in her eyes again, and she thumped his shoulder with her fist before she broke down. "Ivo, you tailhole, making me cry!" She kissed him through the rain of tears before she choked out, "Of course I'll say yes!"

She pounced on him, rolling him onto his back, and kissed him again. They had the whole room to themselves, after all, and she was going to leave no reason for doubt in his mind that she wanted to share her life with him.

(Aaaaaand I think that's a cute place to call it :3)
