Open The Slups Storm Clouds and Crossbow Bolts

Daniil turned his gaze to Caden, blinking through the tears and the haze of the tonic he'd been given. "I..." His tongue felt heavy, his body a rock bobbing just beneath the surface of the water, buffeted by the current. He swallowed, his mouth feeling like it was full of loose cotton. "My sister," he mumbled. "Let... le' her..." Why were his eyelids so heavy? He just needed to shut them for a moment...

He was out like a light as soon as his eyes closed.

"I'll let her know," Caden said as he touched the unconscious fox's shoulder with a reassuring paw. He turned to Aiken and gave the stoat an informal salute.

"Maybe I'll see you around, aye? Be careful chasing stories. Seems they'll chase you back sometimes." He nodded to the crossbow leaning against the wall where Aiken had placed it. "And maybe keep yourself armed if you find yourself in the Slups again."

The marten ducked out of the back room and exited the shop into the streets. Hitching his bag higher onto his shoulder with a wince, he started off at a brisk walk towards the Ministry of War.
