General Information
Age: 22
Species: Red Panda
Size: Large
Physical Description
Pomodu is a physically imposing red panda, though only because of her large frame; in actuality, most of her body weight is in fur and what might euphemistically be called 'padding' that makes her quite possibly the Imperium's best hugger. She always has a wide, joyful smile on her face that seems to suggest childlike wonder and glee. She wears a bizarre mixture of various Imperial fashions that do not go together, namely a laced up corset under a (admittedly quite slimming) pantsuit.
Inventory and Real Estate
-An extremely ornate dueling sword
-Several bars of solid gold
-The best hugs ever
Personality
Pomodu is, in a word, adorable. Despite her clearly having a very unrealistic view of the world as a whole and the Vulpine Imperium especially, her enthusiasm is frankly contagious. When excited, she tends to hug whoever is near her, which, for those not prepared, can be disarming. Despite her general ignorance, or perhaps more because of it, she is very eager to learn, and will very enthusiastically follow along with others on whatever she views as an 'adventure'.
Strengths
Pomodu is eager to learn and to make friends, and, despite her imposing physique, there is something very soft and non-threatening about this bizarre beast. Despite the often bizarre things that leave her mouth, it's hard to stay angry at her, since it's clear she doesn't understand what she's saying at all. Plus, she's extremely fluffy and gives the best hugs.
Weaknesses
Pomodu has no actual idea what she's in for. Everything she's heard and learned about the Imperium has been more-than-slightly twisted and misinterpreted as it's passed from mouth to mouth across numerous languages, and even what remains accurate is, at this point, outdated. She is hardly a deft paw with her blade either, and has little to no actual experience to fall back upon.
History
Pomodu lu Modokunomulo, contrary to many beasts' estimations of her, is actually a princess. This isn't actually that impressive; the distant forest kingdom from which she hails has something on the order of a few dozen princes and princesses just descended from their father the king, and Pomodu, within this hierarchy, is considered very minor indeed. Growing up within a large clan that is based around the ethos of supporting the king and crown prince wholeheartedly, Pomodu had very little time or agency with which to pursue her own ambitions. She only found a form of escape from the requirements of palace life when a traveling minstrel arrived at court bearing tales of a far distant land, a wonderous, savage place called the Vulpine Imperium. It was a land of glories, where golden fog descended on the land each morning to shower it in riches, and where noble, vicious warriors called 'ministers' led armies against each other daily, these immortals dying and being reborn each day with the rising sun to serve anew their Emperor, a divine beast of all faces, species, and genders as they pleased.
The young Princess Pomodu was hooked immediately. She begged her father to let the minstrel stay at court, and, being a kind father, he indulged her, giving the balladeer a place among his retinue. Pomodu listened to every one of his stories with eagerness, hearing tales of great and terrible heroes: the vicious Poison Fox Tanaya, whose fleet of ships led horrific attacks, headed by a flagship whose sails were made from the gilded skins of their victims; her niece, the deranged Rogue Arimana, a dark-furred murderess who they say stalked the shadows by night and, by daylight, transformed into the saintly white fox Reelor Valarola; the clever and scheming Reelor Talano, a mastermind who moved among the game of immortals turning them against each other and, with his sword of deadly night, striking down any who gave him their trust; and, most terrible of all, the Unshackled Anatiyasa, a statue of solid gold turned to life whose booming voice drove beasts to madness and enslaved them to his will. It was a land to which exiled princes and princesses flocked to try their paw at the great game of immortals, each one seeking the glory they could not find in their homeland. As she got older, she expanded her interest to reading stories of this incredible land written by travelers who claimed to have reached its shores, and even, after much begging of her father the king, procured a language tutor, and elderly scholar who had once traveled to lands at least close to the mysterious Vulpine Imperium and had learned its language, a tongue so great and powerful that even those far beyond its shores grew up learning it. Pomodu obsessively studied the language and its traditions, teaching herself the dueling techniques of the land from a battered book brought to her by a traveling merchant, and dreaming of one day walking on Vulpinsulan shores herself.
Eventually, all good things come to an end. Pomodu's father the king died, and with it, power passed to her brother, the former crown prince. With it, tradition dictated that, to make room for the new family he would have, his siblings were to leave the palace and spread out to serve the interests of the kingdom elsewhere. Pomodu went to her brother the king and begged him leave and a dispensation to travel the world, to seek out this incredible Vulpine Imperium that might prove such a valuable ally one day to their distant and isolated kingdom. Her brother reluctantly agreed, giving her a small stipend of several dozen bars of gold and an ornate blade with which to protect herself. Pomodu swore not to return to her homeland until she had secured an alliance for her family; privately, she hoped she would have an excuse to settle in the Imperium forever, to join the great dance of immortals herself.
Now, after a year of traveling, Pomodu has finally arrived in the Vulpine Imperium, setting foot on its shores. Only time will tell how it will live up to the stories of her childhood, and whether she will survive its dangers.
