Personality
A kind and caring individual with a wild and adventurous streak to her. The type of person you would enjoy having around a fire singing songs and sharing stories. A woman who shows no mercy to vermin and the cruel, but happily turn a blind eye to someone stealing food to not go hungry, and often leaving gifts to help them along in their struggles.
Strengths
When in the forests and the wilds she is at home, moving with ease through the terrain and able to survive out and away from people. She prefers to fight at range and move quickly as she loses her deadly shot.
Weaknesses
Large crowds and cities are often a disorientating and overwhelming experience. Despite coming from a predominantly sea fearing nation she wouldn’t know a mizzenmast from a bowsprit. Keeping herself distant in a fight is keeping herself alive as she struggles with close combat
History
The Many Isles of the Emerald Sea is an archipelago nestled near the equator with good weather year round, clear ocean water with shallow reads, deep troughs , and sandy beaches. Well known for its seafaring people, but also for growing olives and grapes, making fine wine, and a source for luxurious pearls and gems.
Miothiyle of Thermodon was born under a different name to an absent father and an impartial mother. He was a trader, selling wares and running a rather profitable business that kept food on their table, a roof over their head, and fine clothes on their backs, but with the expectation that his children take over the family business. Of course her elder brother would most likely inherit and leave Miothyle with the scraps, if the daughter had any interest at all that is. Rather than take after her father and brother she was more interested in playing with the other children, getting covered in mud, and catching bugs. It wasn’t a terrible childhood but at the same time the young fox was often neglected with her mother having no interest in raising the two children and a father who when he was there focused on the obedient son.
When she was thirteen life changed when her father died of a heart attack, long nights and early mornings finally catching up to him, working himself to death. With his body barely in the ground her brother moved to take over the business, taking everything and leaving home to pursue greater profit elsewhere. Her mother left soon after, never to return, leaving the young Miothiyle to herself. The vixen bounced from house to house for a while but eventually, on a moonlit night, she would wander into the temple of the huntress goddess Artemis. It was there that the young woman finally found her place, living with the priestesses and hunters, learning how to use the bow, how to hunt and most importantly she found a family that she never knew she didn’t have. At sixteen she came of age and chose her name, abandoning any final ties to the family that did not want her and devoting herself to the huntress. She was Miothiyle of the river Thermodon, or Marble as people would often call her on account of her fur pattern.
Some huntresses would travel the roads and trade paths of the Emerald Isles, keeping them safe from beasts and bandits, helping people in need, and occasionally running messages if a follower of Hermes wasn’t around. Whilst this position didn’t have any official government or local authority, those that carried out this task were often seen as trustworthy and having some power of authority to help settle local disputes and in rare instances judge crimes. Marble would take on a similar responsibility when she was eighteen, traveling one of the larger islands and carrying out her duty as a warden of the road, continuing this route for several years.
Eventually though she would get a calling, be it from her Goddess or just a desire to travel, Marble would eventually pass on her route to another young huntress and travel to one of the trading hubs at the end of her route. Travelers and traders from the Vulpine Imperium were not uncommon with them also being a seafaring nation and a rather powerful one at that, as such Marble had learned a little of the language when she spent some time with a caravan heading deeper into the isles. Her calling, whatever it may be, led her to use the little money she had to buy passage on a trade ship and travel up to the Imperium, wherever adventure might take her.
