PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
A short weasel with brown fur, blue eyes, a short snout and two round ears on top of his head. There are only a few imperfections on his fur that has otherwise been obviously taken great care of for years.
PERSONALITY:
He is very talkative, outgoing, it seems as if he's an open book until one prods into something he wants to keep secret, when he tries to change the topic as suttelly as he can. Is prone to getting into passionate debates and arguments, but knows how to pick his battles.
STRENGTHS:
He is very knowledgeable about mathematics, world languages both current and historical, is able to write and speak well especially when in debates or critiques. He is also quick on his feet and can quickly decide on a course of action, even in relatively stressful situations.
WEAKNESSES:
He lacks experience of true hardship and is very idealistic. He knows almost nothing about Vulpinsulan society, its structure or customs. He is distrustful of other people, he doesn't forget his grudges and holds even his best friends at arms length.
BIOGRAPHY:
Herman's parents Jared Lasichin and Elisabeth Whitebeast left the imperium in 1731 amid escolating conflict and lacking opportunities. They landed on the shores of a woodlander kingdom along with other migrating Vulpinsulans, where they were welcomed by the locals, even if coldly. The couple married shortly after setling down and both began working various odd jobs to make money and gain favor with the locals. Their oldest son mariner was born in 1733, Herman was born in 1737, and their youngest kit and only daughter Scarlet was born in 1742. Herman did well at school, already displaying his talent for writing and logical thinking at that young age. His parents tried very hard to save up enough money for him to go to university, but in the end they needed to ask for help from a very wealthy and distinguished woodlander to finance the rest of Herman's education. At university he first studied languages to become an interpreter, and later he switched to studying mathematics, earning a magister's degree in mathematics and geometry by the age of 26. Besides his academic life, he mingled plenty with other Vulpinsulans, who have built a strong shared identity based mostly on what they heard about the vulpine imperium from their parents. Herman began working as a Vulpinsulan interpreter after earning his degree, but he was also active with his friend group, which had by now developed into a political and cultural movement. The woodlanders didn't appreciate their brash displays of their culture in public, and fights often broke out between vermin and woodlanders. While Herman tried to stay out of fights, his employer and the university pressured him to denounce his kind for what a few of them did, which he refused to do. It would only get worse however, since one evening when he was at a bar with 3 other weasels, the other 3 drank a little too much and began yelling praises to the imperium. It quickly escolated to complete chaos, with wounded on both sides and all four including Herman getting arrested. While herman was let go after he convinced them he was just an innocent bystander, many people in high places turned against him, and he was closely watched. Realizing that his life there was all but over, he decided to take what few belongings he needed and to set sail for the imperium.
