Colonel Shorechild is an elite, a beast who worked her way up through the ranks by the strength of her paws and a mind that took as readily to the complexities of tactics, strategy, and leadership as if she was born to it. Having dedicated her life to the study of war, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Physical Description
Lean and lanky in a way that fits the stereotype of all fighting hares. Beksa's brown fur has begun to grey and those who have known her the longest have noted that some of the explosive power that characterized her youth has been replaced with a steadfast economy of movement that is just as deadly. Even so, her amber eyes remain clear and sharp, and her face, though careworn and weary with old frustrations, is rarely devoid of compassion. She is always to be found wearing her uniform, with clean wraps on all four paws and her long, scarred ears carefully wrapped at the base with a leather band.

Inventory
Several uniforms. A pawful of mementos. Numerous manuals on strategy and tactics. A masterwork spear that has saved her life more times than she can count.

Personality
Steadfast, honest, loyal. Beksa lives by the twin beliefs that honesty is the best policy and that a beast is only as good as her word. She is gentle and compassionate when the situation calls for it, and relentless when her mind is set. It has made her well-liked (or at least well-trusted) by peers and subordinates. It may also have stunted her movement up through the ranks.

A superb fighter and a leader who commands the loyalty of her troops.

Unyielding, even when she knows it to be a poor idea.
Unwilling to change or compromise.

History
Born in the province of Tookumberry to parents who both served in the army there prior to the province's seizure by Imperial forces, Beksa knew from an early age both that her own entry into the armed forces was what was expected of her, and what she wanted to do. She took quickly to all the skills she would need as a member of the armed forces, with particular ability being shown with the spear and paw-to-paw combat. This allowed her to rise through the ranks with relative speed even amid the chaos of the '40s, and there were many who expected her to ultimately take on the role of general. Unfortunately, her tendancy towards bluntness and a practiced inability to give way resulted in enough powerful enemies to ultimately result in her "promotion" to the position of the commander of the Alton Bay outpost, a dead end for the career of any beast.

Still, her skill and her ability to command the loyalty of her own troops also made her at least a few strong friends, as well. More than a few young officers have flourished under her mentorship, the most recent being a wildcat with at least a few rumors regarding her parentage.​
