PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
A she-cat of slight stature and slender build, Therin's dark blue eyes remain clear and calculating though her black fur is increasingly lightened by age. The white patch on her throat and chest, once standing out in sharp contrast, now fades gently into the accumulated greys around her muzzle, and the silver streaks on her ears and down the length of her spine and tail are far more visible than they ever were in her youth. Her ears are more or less in tatters, and various scars cross her body thanks to a lifetime spent in various violent pursuits. Then again, a perceptive observer might note that none of these seem particularly recent, least of all the long, deep one above her left eye.

As has been her custom for many years, Therin tends to wear simple, practical clothes that might belong to any relatively well-off citizen of the Imperium and allow her to move comfortably. If a beast were to pass her on the street they would likely think little of it; aging navybeasts who survived all of the Imperium's various upheavals are a common enough sight, and few if any would recognize her as anything else.

PERSONALITY:
There are those who would call Vertherian Ullyanov conniving, amoral, and ruthless, but only if they could be certain she wouldn't hear that they were the ones who said it. Decades spent rising to and falling from the circles of power and the various targets she has found painted on her back because of it have resulted in Therin becoming ever more wily, devious, and shrewd. She will pursue her goals at any cost.

Yet she is also deeply loyal to those beasts she cares for, and to those who are loyal to her. Her trust is all but impossible to gain. Her affection and respect are another matter entirely.

STRENGTHS:
Nine Lives: She hasn't survived into her seventh decade while remaining heavily involved in various licit and illicit activites, all of them dangerous, without plenty of savvy and a bit of luck.
Adaptable: Naval officer. Emperor's consort. Director's Man. Criminal power. She's done a little bit of everything.
Connections: She either knows a beast, or she knows a beast who knows a beast.

WEAKNESSES:
Closed Book: A hazard of living as many lives as she has and losing so many of the beasts she considered friends. Therin doesn't truly trust anyone but herself.
No Higher Purpose: Somewhere along the way, Therin began seeking power for the sake of power itself-- or because she was afraid of what would happen if she lost it.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born Vertherian Nightarrow on the remote island of Lazilap, Therin grew up happily enough. She left home at the age of seventeen as a crewmember aboard a small pirate vessel called the Black Barnacle where she served for a little more than a year, gaining the skills that would serve her well for the rest of her life: sailing, fighting, archery. She fell in love. He died. Broken-hearted, she arrived in the Imperium at the age of twenty one and enlisted in the Navy, where she was assigned to the Skeered of Nothing.

She still considers her years aboard the Skeered as some of the best of her life. It was there she came into her own as a navybeast-- and where she was first inducted into the work of Misanthropy (and the Director's Men). It was there that she received her first promotions, serving in positions that varied from Ship's Cook to First Mate. And it was there she met the beasts who she would come to consider her closest friends. Shia Corico. IceRain Sleet. Mackenroe Rockford. Kalin Nightmare.

And, of course, Vlad.

It could be argued that Therin's connection with the scarred, masked, mysterious Vladimir Ullyanov is what prompted her own rise to power. It is impossible to say whether she would have managed the same on her own. Regardless, there was true love and affection between the two, and their marriage on Bugs 1, 1726 was a happy occasion. After assisting in the (mostly) bloodless coup of Dismembre 1726 that installed her husband as the new Minister of Misanthropy, she herself was promoted to the Director of MAUL. On Smarch 1, 1727, she was made captain of the Golden Hide-- and a mother: her and Vlad's kitten, Evpraksivya, was born the same day she took command.

In 1728, Therin was appointed Minister of Commerce, marking her reluctant exit from the Imperial Navy.

Within the next few years, when Vladimir claimed the title of Emperor for himself, Therin joined him in Amarone as his Consort.

Thus ends the known history of Vertherian Ullyanov. After her retirement to Amarone, the beast known as Therin faded from public sight and then from public knowledge, a fate sealed by the "unnofficial" house arrest the Emperor Ullyanov I and his household found themselves under as various factions found themselves both unhappy with the state of affairs and capable of doing something about it. Yet the events surrounding the eventual removal of Ullyanov I from power are shrouded in mystery, with almost as many different stories told (both by official and unofficial sources) as there are beasts telling them. Only one thing is known for certain: when the palace at Amarone was stormed and taken, Therin and Evvie were nowhere to be found.

POSSESSIONS/REAL ESTATE:
Before her disappearance, Therin held the deed to a small castle in the Insanely Rich Area, as well as a number of other "modest" holdings throughout Bully Harbor and at least one beautiful residence in Amarone. It is unknown to whom these pieces of real estate now belong.

Upon induction into the Director's Men, Therin commisioned a beautiful longbow of almost black wood. As the weapon vanished at the same time as the cat herself, it is assumed that it has remained in her posession or otherwise disappeared.
