DESCRIPTION:

Calaisee, better known as ‘Cal’, to most friends and enemies alike, is a tall, red-furred fox, with bright, luscious fur, such that she tends to stand out in a crowd. She’s well-built and knows it, sometimes dying parts of her fur with intimidating markings and symbols, in lieu of tattoos that would damage her coat.

The vixen dresses mean, and practical, tending towards darker or drab clothing, with a belt made of chain links, tied together at an end with tough rope. She isn’t usually obviously armed, though it’s a given that she always has a knife on her, and her belt doubles as a weapon or intimidation tool in a pinch. If the weather's cold or rainy, she might wear a cloak, which doubles as a great cover for larger, more brutal weapons.

A committed vulpine supremacist through and through, the fox can nevertheless be strategic about revealing her biases, and can pull off a convincing, if typically overplayed, mocking act of sympathy for her enemies – something she often does for fun.

BIOGRAPHY:

The Lewyre foxes had called Vulpinsula home for generations, as long as any could remember. Never any sort of nobility, at least not that anybeast could recall, they nevertheless farmed the land in a plot not too far from the city of Bouillabaisse, with sons and daughters going off to live in the city or join the military, occasionally moving to other parts of the country. There was an expectation that, throughout the decades, things would stay more or less the same, that the simple life which they’d always lived would remain as it was, no matter the chaos in the harbor or down the long road to Amarone.

The Winter War of 1733-1734 was the first disruption. Grain and food were confiscated, both by the invading Coalition and the Imperium’s own government, forcing some of the family to flee into the refugee camps with much of the city’s population, and others to aid in the budding guerrilla struggle against the foreign occupiers within the city itself.

The war left many dead, and the Lewyre family mostly destitute, with what was left of their homestead in ruins. In the end, their plot of land was sold to Kluinch Acres, one of the large conglomerates in the city, and the Lewyres scattered throughout the harbor in search of new lives.

Calaisee was born in the years of relative peace and stagnation that followed. She grew up on the stories of how life had been, how it was changing, seeing more and more woodlanders in the city, and less and less of the old vulpine spirit that, it was said, had guided the country to greatness. The Emperor, who had not then been seen in public for years, was a wildcat, not a fox, and the reigns of the country seemed to rest in the hands of an upstart stoat.

It came as no surprise, then, that there was another major disruption, the collapse of 1748. Famine came first, war soon after. Her family largely sided with the monarchist factions, suffering further tragedies in the conflict’s long span. Her parents were eventually counted among the losses, leaving the orphaned Calaisee to wander the streets, squabbling and fighting with and against other kits in the numerous small battles for food, shelter, or gilder that waged throughout the harbor, even after the war.

As she grew older, though still a kit, the vixen found a new family, a new vulpine supremacist gang in the Slups, the Vengeful, or ‘Venges’, born in the traditions of the old Skulls gang of the Winter War era. Just a sharkling of 14 years, she would walk the streets with the crew, keeping the Slups ‘safe’ from mustelids, woodlanders and other strange beasts.

Now an adult, she’s built enough of a reputation over the years to form own little gang of vulpinists, a now notable faction within the Vengeful, following her word and action first and further than any of the beasts back in the Skull House, the bar the gang calls home.

POSSESSIONS:

Calaisee possesses a collection of clothing, knives, and some other random weapons, either in a small apartment she owns in the Slups (heavily discounted thanks to her gang reputation) or at various stashes throughout its streets, particularly close to the harbor.
