The Urk Expedition was a major story arc, in which the crew of the Golden Hide ventured north to the freezing island of Urk on a secretive mission to recover a mysterious artifact from the cannibal shrews - the Wolf Idol.

Notes: Unbeknownst to Darragh, his future friends Silvertongue, Swifttail, and Kaii Nashirou all met Talinn and signed up on the same day before him.
Summary: Darragh senses a special connection with the Golden Hide, and signs up to join the Navy in a very poetic manner.

Summary: Sent on the impossible task of finding the ship's 'Timmynocky' by a bullying crewmate, Darragh meets and befriends the Foskateers, who encourage him to stand up for himself.

Notes: Due to both Timmynocky and The Long Watch running concurrently, Darragh's relationship to the Foskateers underwent a quick evolution.
Summary: Darragh makes little account of himself in battle against the cannibal shrews of Urk. As the spontaneously-promoted assistant to Doctor Barrett, Darragh botches his treatment of Kaii and jeopardises the fox's trust.
