586 Years Before the Founding of Vulpinsula.
Deep within the forest, in a monastery hidden even deeper between the trees and foliage, a master smith was at work. The middle-aged fox panted, seemingly exerting his physical capabilities as he hammered away at his project. It didn't help that the forge was sweltering hot. The task was long, and grueling, and every inch of his body ached- but it was for a righteous cause. Five coins came out of the forge, and, working quickly, the master smith took five clay dies, each with a unique symbol, and pressed them onto the still-hot coins, engraving them with precision and expertise. Then, the dies were cast into the fire, destroyed, never to be used again. Once the coins were cooled, they were presented to the master monks of the monastery, who imbued them with great power granted by the visitor from the stars. For they knew... it might not be during their time, but there would be a need for these Power Coins to be wielded by great heroes... to defend not just their home, but the entire world from the forces of evil.Vulpinsula, 1916.
"Abbess, the war has been waging on for years at this point. Countless lives have been lost. The entire world is tearing itself apart! Surely, this is the great evil that the prophecy has warned about!" A tall, imposing wolf stood with his head bowed as he spoke to a vixen sitting on an ornate wooden chair."Wolfcarius, it is not our place to intervene with the politics of the outside. Our sole duty is to keep the Power Coins safe. If they were to be discovered-"
"Yes, yes, all the evil beasts of the world would want their power, I am aware of that. Master, I beg your forgiveness for speaking so brashly, but what point is there to having these Power Coins if all we do is sit on them?"
"In time, you will come to understand, Wolfcarius. The Power Coins must not be used so brashly."
Wolfcarius scowled, and he turned away. "Very well, Abbess." He said, before storming away.
Vulpinsula, 1947.
The Abbey was enflamed, and a mighty howl ripped through the halls of the hallowed building."Another Great War and still you deny the Power Coins their purpose, Abbess! No longer!" William Wolfcarius raged, the corpses of monks littered at his feet. "I have been honing my skills for DECADES. I will take the Power Coins, and I shall end this war myself!"
The Abbess was limping through a back corridor, a streak of blood left in her wake. Pulling down on a candelabra attached to a wall, she entered a secret passage, which revealed a strange, almost alien-like desk with many buttons on it, as well as what seemed like a large black frame on the wall. The Abbess grunted in pain, and she pushed some buttons on the desk. The black frame suddenly lit up, and a large transparent head appeared on it, a fox with pure white fur. "Francesca. You appear to be injured."
"Zabulon." Francesa panted, each word a struggle. "It's Wolfcarius. He has been corrupted by the allure of the Power Coins."
"This is not good. Is there no one capable of stopping him?"
"He has slaughtered everyone, Zabulon."
"Abbess?" A young female voice interrupted. "Is this a hidden tunnel?" A young vixen walked in, with all black fur, wearing a simple robe. "Abbess, what's going on, I heard lots of screaming and howling and- OH MY KITSUNE, ABBESS YOU'RE BLEEDING!"
"Lorelei!" Francesca lurched over to her. "You need to get out of here. Wolfcarius, he's gone mad-"
"Francesca, you must give her a Power Coin. She is our only hope against Wolfcarius."
"The Power Coins?" Lorelei gasped. "But we can only use those-"
"To defend against a great evil. I know." Francesa grimaced. "I know that Wolfcarius was our friend before. But he has changed. He intends to kill all of us, Lorelei." Francesca reached into her pocket, pulled out a coin that more closely resembled a medallion in size, and handed it to Lorelei.
"But... I don't know how to use this!"
"It is simple, young vixen," Zabulon said calmly. "You simply hold the Power Coin aloft and call out to the power, and you shall be transformed. Lorelei, from this day forth, I grant you the role of the Pink Ranger, and bestow upon you the power of the falcon."
"Power Ranger? But- I-I don't understand." Lorelei stared at the coin, dumbfounded. "Why me?"
"Because there is no one else." Francesca said. "Lorelei, if Zabulon trusts you, then I have faith in you as I have faith in the Kitsune. You must put a stop to Wolfcarius. You are stronger than you think."
Lorelei looked down at the gaping wound in Francesca's side, and she nodded, taking the coin and leaving the secret room. Standing there, at the end of the hallway, was William Wolfcarius.
"You..." Wolfcarius growled. "You?! The Abbess would entrust the Power Coins to-to... a CHILD?! Over ME?!" He let out an enraged howl.
Panicking, Lorelei held the coin aloft. "TRANSFORMATION! PINK FALCON POWER!"
A sudden bright blinding white light filled the hallway...
Vulpinsula, 1997.
Two beasts were out grave-robbing. Two rats, to be specific. They had tramped through Kitsune-knows how many miles of forest before stumbling across a mausoleum."Ha! I told you it was here!" The first rat said to his partner. "This place is bound to be filled with treasure!"
"I dunno, mate, this seems dangerous. If we get hurt out here, how is anybeast gonna find us?"
"No beast is gonna find us, because if they do, they'll want the treasure, too, you idiot!"
The rats entered into the mausoleum, which was oddly barren, save for one large coffin in the middle.
"Geez, this guy must have been buried with all the treasure in his coffin!" The first rat commented. "Help me open this thing."
The two of them opened the coffin and were shocked at what they saw. A wolf, perfectly preserved. Not a sign of decay on the body at all.
"What in Hellgates?!" The first rat exclaimed. "Where's the treasure?!"
The wolf's eyes suddenly snapped open, and his paws shot out from the coffin, grabbing the two rats by their throats. The rats shrieked in terror, but their screaming was quickly cut short as their bodies began to shrivel and wither away in the wolf's grip, until they were naught but skin and bones. Dropping the corpses to the floor, the wolf sat up from his coffin, licking his lips. "After 50 years... I needed a snack."
Meanwhile, in a shoddy underground bunker, a stoat and a ferret, named Jitter and Bitter respectively, were working on a strange robotic creature, with many more standing by.
There was suddenly a bright light, and Wolfcarius appeared before the two of them. "Jitter! Bitter! After 50 years of slumber, your Master has returned!"
The two beasts stumbled back, shocked, before falling to their knees, crawling forward, and hugging Wolfcarius's legs and kissing his feet. "Master! You returned! After all these years! We have been working tirelessly to have your army ready!"
"Master, was it nice to be asleep for 50 years?"
"Get off me, you freaks!" Wolfcarius kicked them away. "You disgust me! As for your question, Bitter..."
He turned and started to stroll through their base, Jitter and Bitter getting to their feet and scurrying after him.
"In the dark of the night, I was tossing and turning, and the nightmare I had was as bad as can be.
It scared me out of my wits, A corpse falling to bits!"
"Then what happened, Master?" Bitter asked.
"Then I opened my eyes
And the nightmare was, me!"
Arriving in front of a mirror, Wolfcarius waved his paw over it, and it began to shimmer, the mirror now allowing him to gaze into his past memories.
"I was once the most mystical beast in Vulpinsula!
When the Abbess denied me, she made a mistake.
I was going to make her pay,
But one little girl got in my way!"
Wolfcarius glowered at the image of young Lorelei in the mirror, but his frown turned to a grin as it revealed her as she was now, elderly and infirm, now the Abbess of the monastery all these years later
"Lorelei, beware!
Wolfcarius's awake!"
He started to storm down another hallway.
"In the dark of the night, evil will find her
In the dark of the night, just before dawn!
Revenge will be sweet
My yearning, complete!
In the dark of the night
She'll be gone!"
As Wolfcarius walked, he felt better, less sick. His head was not pounding as it had been before.
"I can feel that my powers are slowly returning
Tie my sash and a dash of cologne for that smell!"
Jitter and Bitter hurried to obey Wolfcarius's commands.
"As the pieces fall into place
I'll see her crawl into place
Do Svidaniya, Abbess, Your Grace!
Farewell!"
Jitter and Bitter were dancing around, chanting along with their wicked Master.
"In the dark of the night, terror will strike her!"
"Terror's the least I can do!"
"In the dark of the night, evil will brew!"
"Soon she will feel that her nightmares are real!"
"In the dark of the night!"
"In the dark of the night!"
"She'll be through!"
"In the dark of the night,
Evil will find her!"
"Find her!"
"In the dark of the night, terror comes true."
"Doom her!"
"My dear, here's a sign
It's the end of the line!"
"In the dark of the night!"
"In the dark of the night!"
Wolfcarius, followed by Jitter and Bitter, arrived at a carvern, which was filled with dozens, if not hundreds, of the strange crow-like robots that the two lackeys had been working on. Wolfcarius held his arms aloft, and a dark purplish black energy flowed from his paws, spreading through the air and into the chest of each robot. The strange machinations whirred to life, cawing incessantly and taking to the air, feathers flying everywhere.
"Come, my minions
Rise for your master
Let your evil shine!
Find her now,
Yes, fly ever faster!"
"In the dark of the night!"
"In the dark of the night!"
"She'll be mine!"
