PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Barely more than a kitten, Korya is diminutive in stature, with surprisingly well-toned muscles. Her fur is a dusky brown from tail to ears, with black rosettes peppering her limbs, back, belly, and head. Her tail is long and thick, her ears rounded her nose brown, and her eyes a listless, glassy, light blue-grey. When her mane grows over, she lets it hang in front of her eyes, but will tie the back into a tail.

Her favorite outfit consists of a sky-blue sleeveless wrap-around shirt buttoned at the shoulder, a pair of sky-blue cloth bracers, a pair of steel-blue baggy pants, and a leather half-skirt made of seal pelt that wraps around the backside, the fringes fluffed with white fur whose previous owner is better left unassumed. While she owns a pair of seal pelt moccasins, she more often than not goes bare-pawed so as to learn the streets by feel.

She has sworn never to wear a bonnet ever again.

PERSONALITY:
Enthusiastic. Lonely. Proud. Brave. Naive. These are just some of the words she knows how to spell, which also happen to describe her.

The exuberance of a freshly emancipated youth flows from her - usually from her mouth, as she's learned that bouncing around usually just causes more chaos than she can truly afford to pay for on her own. But this exuberance is a shield held up against a relentless onslaught of complete isolation and the anxiety that comes with knowing that such loneliness is always only ever one wrong word away again.

STRENGTHS:
  • Can hold her breath a worryingly long time.
  • Navigates her world surprisingly well given enough time to become familiar with it.
  • Doesn't mind bloodying her knuckles by slamming them at concussive speeds into solid objects. That just means she hit something!
  • Does very, very good in sub-freezing temperatures.

WEAKNESSES:
  • She's blind in a world built by and for the seeing.
  • Defensive pride about her blindness often leaves her without help that she could actually use.
  • Has a rebellious streak about the width of Vulpinsula. Mostly towards her parents, but who knows what fancy noble custom will set her off into wanting to start a riot in a bookstore?
  • Doesn't do well with rejection or being ignored; prone to moping as a result.
  • Unintelligible pawriting.
  • A weak bladder.
  • Does very, very bad in hot climates.

BIOGRAPHY:
Korya is the sole heir of Preykova Trading Corp, owned and operated by her mother. Her father is a retired MAUL agent, a fact known only to him and those who know such things. If she had been born in a litter, she would have been the runt of it. While her first few months of life were fraught with illness and frailty, she quickly rebounded, becoming a hissing, snarling bundle of fangs and fluff, tamed only by her mother's sharp words and the calming touch of various nursemaids and butlers tasked with keeping her presentable at the dinner table.

Her mother, busy with affairs of the company, doted upon her from afar - a distant voice from across rooms and hallways, scolding not Korya herself, but those who were supposed to be watching her. Like a fragile doll, she was dressed, fed, swaddled, and paraded around to dignitaries and trading partners as the perfect little being.

Her father, on the contrary, would take her on excursions outside of the manor, letting her roam the mountainsides under his observation, often taking her to the rivers and streams to let her play in the water. But he, too, had duties elsewhere, and so she was raised by a constant trickle of frustrated tutors ill-equipped to teach a blind girl who had no interest in them or the comforts of her station.

Once old enough to navigate the world on her own - having learned of how easy it is to bribe her watchers with her own allowance - she would often sneak out and spend time in the local taverns at the base of the mountains, listening to tales of derring-do, learning all the naughty words to the best drinking songs, and how to score her allowance back by letting the patrons bet on the blind girl vs. the drunkest beast of the evening. Finally, a proper education.

These trips to town eventually caught the ear of her mother, and a furious row was had, with her father (who has been aware of every single one, and had often accompanied her without her knowledge) being a quiet, chiding voice in the corner. Korya soon planned a more thorough escape, stealing away in a crate bound for Bully Harbor on one of her mother's own vessels. A vessel captained by a rather proud and completely silent father, who had made sure Korya's crate contained extra soft straw, jars of potted meats and bottles of fresh mountain water, and air holes on all sides.

POSSESSIONS/REAL ESTATE:
  • A quaint little music box, one of the few childhood keepsakes she brought with her.
  • A small, portable stove, just large enough for one frying pan or pot of noodles.
  • A medium-sized noodle pot and frying pan set, with a pair of serving tongs, a wooden stirring spoon, and a fine set of metal utensils.
  • A pair of moccasins and a bundle of assorted underclothes. Mostly unused.
  • A towel. Unused.
  • A set of paints and some old Smelt newspapers to paint on.
  • A collapsable pole walking stick, crafted for her by her new friend, Cryle. The purpose of its use is to navigate safely, but more often than not it's a tool for tripping and bopping others with.

Housing:
  • A spacious room in a rather large manor located in the mountains on the main island of The Northlands, owned by Preykova Trading Corp.
  • A straw pallet in a shared apartment in the Slups. She has never met her roommate. They might be dead. But they do pay their rent, and sometimes hers.

SKILLS:

Physical
Total Points in Category: 7
Heightened Senses [Seasoned] (4)The subtle way air just feels different when someone enters a room. The creak of a board, the soft wisp of a breathe, the lingering musk of a ferret, the negligible degrees a floor tilts when someone takes a step; these are the things Korya subconsciously notices.
Swimming [Proficient] (2)Thick, fluffy tail be damned! The girl was born to be a sea leopard, not a snow leopard. To keep her from the water is as cruel as to keep a gull from the sky. The colder the water, the better. If you're not bashing your head into ice when surfacing, it's too bloody warm!
Martial Prowess [Trained] (1)While not trained in any specific style, she nevertheless practices whatever she thinks feels right. Punches are her favorite, kicks and flips and twirls are alright. Those walls better watch out, because she isn't!

Mental
Total Points in Category: 3
Trade: Stovetop Cooking [Proficient] (2)Two words: Spicy noodles. Why would anyone ever eat anything else? Best paired with ice-cold ale.
Trade: Keys Performance [Trained] (1)Pianos, clavichords, harpsichords, all the chords. While numerous private tutors tried to instill many noble artistic pursuits, the only one that she bothered being excited for was music. Well, that and painting, but music is the one that gives accurate feedback on progress.
Trade: Painting [Novice] (0)Korya has her own art style. Someday it will be displayed in Imperial museums and cause existential crises for scholars the world over.

Social
Total Points in Category: 2
Sage Vibes [Trained] (1)Empathy-adjacent, the ability to give words of wisdom from another perspective to beasts questioning their life decisions is just some kind of gift she has.
Awful Puns [Trained] (1)Best keep your gourd up, or she'll squash you with punkin-themed jokes. Who doesn't luffa good pune? You butternut say you! Zuchinni't run from them.
Sorrow Sense [Novice] [0]Tone of voice always gives it away. And sad beasts need someone to listen. She's good at listening.
