Physical Description
Kaii has mostly white fur with dark gray markings appropriate for a marble fox. His eyes are very deep shade of blue, albeit the darker fur around the make them look sunken, deepening bags he usually has from lack of proper sleep. He is decently built and, while somewhat lean, he has rather good physique. Kaii likes to set up his headfur, keeping it rather small but prominent. His tail is slightly longer than expected and is clad in shorter fur than marble fox would've had. It has black fur at its end and black line that goes along the tail, smoothly turning into the dark grey stripe upon his back. His face seems always a bit weary, even when he is good spirits.
He usually can be seen wearing a white, frilly shirt and black waistcoat along with smart, black trousers. He has boots but he can be seen often walking around without them. He has a proper suit jacket to finish the set, one that seems to be in part crossed with haori, making a blend between his ancestral culture and a local one. He rarely puts on the complete outfit however, unless the situation calls for it.
While at any work that can be dirty, Kaii wears more loose pants and just a regular, linen white shirt. He always has his belt with a tool bag attached to it.

History
Born on the tenth of Primary, in the year 1740 among the richest beasts of Bouillabaisse Harbor, Kaii was an heir to the Nashirou dynasty. An old family that came from Fyador in bygone era and kept themselves afloat with their workshops that produced designed by them weapons for the Imperium. Their work earned them title of Barons as they held decent land around the city while living within it. Alas, Kaii came to this world in very difficult times. His family lost a lot of members, contacts and as such, wealth in the turmoil of the twenties and thirties, primarily due to their strong belief in the code of honour that made them side with the deposed emperor while fighting fiercely with the insurgents. Because of this, Kaii only ever met his closest family: His father Imerou, his mother Isa and his twin sister Arima.
Kaii had a rather happy childhood nonetheless, as his parents were doing everything they could to raise him and his twin sister to be both talented and competent successors of the dynasty. They not only wanted them to be knowledgable, capable in many fields and literary, Kaii's parents also ensured their kits knew about the traditions their family brought from Fyador and cultivated for past centuries. Sadly, the worsening situation didn't allow for this to continue. In 1748, at the age of just eight, due to the revolutions starting to engulf the island, Kaii and his sister were sent off to Maquisty Cape and put under the ward of Seylene Sarrick, an old and trusty servant to Kaii's mother who was tasked with both keeping the two safe and ensuring their education in both matters of tradition and the world itself.
In the years that followed, Kaii experienced all the pain the world could bring to him. He was now living in poverty, with Seylene doing her best to feed and care for the two kits despite the wrecking of trade and bloodbath of the civil war. Just a year later, Arima have died from pneumonia, unable to be treated or to get an appropriate amount of rest and food to recover. Kaii, being just nine at the time, became very reclusive and almost gave up on life himself. Seylene kept him going however, as she instilled in him the fierce will to live despite everything just to honour his sister. In 1752, Kaii's parents were killed by the Ministerial forces after they were discovered to be delivering weapons to the other side of the conflict, remaining true to their allegiance. This information reached Kaii a year later, once the civil war was over. He was now the sole member and head of the Nashirou house.
Seylene did her best to fulfil her task, teaching Kaii how to read, write, work with numbers and nurturing his curiosity about the world around him as well as his lust to know more. While the situation was improving and the empire started rebuilding itself, Kaii was growing into a very independent and keen person. Although the difficulties of the years that had passed left an incredible pain within him, it was one he could withstand and control, after many lessons of instilled self-discipline. He felt obligated to live just so that someone would remember his family and dynasty. Aside from the panflute that belonged to his sister, he had only his memories to hold onto, no matter how painful it was to remember the good times.
Once he was sixteen, Kaii went on to work in the re-establishing manufacturing sector in the city. Despite harsh beginnings and his experimental nature that put him often in conflict with his employers, his natural talent for all matters of engineering was noticed. Those were actually good years for Kaii as he was now able to properly learn and study. Using his training to act as a noble and get to the libraries, learning by working, running with local literary and positivist circles. In no way he could get admitted to the university, but he was still spending a lot of time there, mixing with students and professors alike in attempt to sate his need for knowledge. That was his main motivator at the time.
With Kaii now becoming a breadwinner for himself and Seylene, she now tasked herself with a new battle, one to ensure Kaii would get his family's estate and wealth. While the land was a liability due to unpaid taxes, should Kaii be restored the wealth his family had before, it would cover that and allow the young heir of the dynasty to stand on his own. Naturally, no ministry, judge nor the state wished to just give out huge sum of money, even if the claim was strong and valid. Seylene angered the wrong people with her pushing the matter and in mid-1762 she was assassinated by an unknown assailant.
Kaii took the news with extreme calmness. He was used to death at this point. Pragmatically, he began to train with a weapon he remembered his father with: a glaive. This was in part due to its usefulness as a polearm, but ultimately driven by the will to remember and honour his family. He took it upon himself to finish the case and used all the money he had gathered to hire a good lawyer. In the end, he reached the agreement where he would obtain his land and nobility back at the price of his wealth. As such Kaii sold his little apartment to move back to Bouillabaisse Harbor as the 1765 have started.
Once there however, he was only welcomed by a city that did not at all look like what he remembered. Worse than that, the mansion he grew up in still wore marks of war. Half burned down and half ruined, bearing damage from cannonballs and blades alike, his childhood house was reduced to rubble. After hours spent frantically searching through the ruins, Kaii managed to find a few scraps of various mementos. He was lied to, for he didn't know that was the state of his estate. Not even the massive workshops were spared from being reduced to rubble. Heartbroken and pained beyond measure, he spent a few months living among those ruins like a common hobo. Using his waking hours either looking for scraps of sustenance or digging through the rubble of his old home. His body and will given up, only his mind, clouded by madness stemming from grief frozen through many years of his life, pushed him to be the broken beast and act like one.
In the end, he found a small metal box, hidden deep within the collapsed basement. Within it, he found the blade of his father's glaive, a pocket watch that belonged to his mother as well as some valuables, a ledger with his family seal and his parents' marital rings. There was no note inside but Kaii in his broken state pieced it up to figure out what he needed to. This was his final duty given to him by all those who have died. To prolong and restore his family to its appropriate glory. After a night spent pouring his emotions into the blade, and the wanton destruction of whatever he found nearby, he was a beast reforged.
He therefore used the few valuables left to get himself back to shape. He bought appropriate clothing, decent food and tools of the trade. He tested them and his rusty skills by making a clever contraption to be used as a pole for the blade he was given. Making it telescopic, he could switch the glaive into a more compact sword and back without having to reforge it. Soon he was ready to take on the world once again, and as he had no money left again, he chose to enrol in the navy, it being the only choice for a man that is both too stubborn to give up fully and yet too broken to care for his fate.
Because Kaii was not living for himself anymore, The only thing pushing him forward was his sense of duty and obligation he thought he had to all who died so that he could live.
