BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Macabre 19, 1741 to woodlanders in the northwestern Mahsterious Sahthern Cahntinent, his early life was a humble one. Being an only child to two hardworking parents meant he was expected to help his mother, Marla, with household chores and his father, Caleb, on his fishing trips. While he enjoyed the company of his mother over his father, it was with his father that he discovered his love of the sea. Caleb taught Jay the rigorous but dignified job of sailing, from maintaining the sails and rigging to navigating to and from the shore. By age 14 (1755), Jay had become as proficient a sailor as his father and having reached an age of adulthood (according to him) he made his way to the busiest port in the region to seek work on a larger, nobler vessel, telling his parents that it was to bring in more income for the family.

Most prospective employers doubted Jay's sailing ability due to his age, but his wit and love for the work usually won them over. So, for the next 6 years, Jay had reasonably steady work first as a Swab or Cabin Boy, and later as an ABS.

In 1761, Jay was working on a common fishing ship among a small crew. On the horizon, the Spotter spotted a large ship barrelling towards them. Unable to flee or fight back, the pirates closed on the small ship, looting their stores, killing the Captain and Mates, and taking the rest of the crew as slaves, including Jay.

For four years, Jay served with the pirates, staying so long and being well liked and a good sailor, he eventually started getting paid, but was forbidden to leave the crew. Jay slowly grew more malice towards his new masters, not just for holding him captive, but for their attitude towards sailing. They were all good and experiences sailors, but their lack of respect for their ship and their use of sailing as simply a means to an end combined with their rambunctious behaviour annoyed Jay to no end. For the first time in his life, he hated people.

Jay eventually was told to assist in a raid on a small ship, a task that could easily been done by the rest of the crew, he got the feeling it was an initiation ritual of sorts. Most of the pillaging was done by others while Jay wondered the few decks following the blood and destruction left by his colleagues until happening across a heaping pile of bright clothing. Jay was drawn to it, the pile almost seemed to wriggle and writhe in response to his approach. Reaching in to the pile, he retrieved a full set of clothing complete with white stockings, frilly cuffs, and a flamboyant blue and gold jacket. The outfit was far more sophisticated than anything he (and certainly his pirate companions) had ever wore. Like many times before, Jay thought back to the dignified sailing of his past, but holding this outfit filled him with determination. He immediately planned his escape.

When the pirate ship was sailing close to the Vulpinsula, in the dark of night, he adorned his new outfit, grabbed his savings in a small pouch and a dagger, stole the ship’s boat and headed for the shore. Soon, he arrived in Bouillabaisse Harbour with nothing but a pouch of gold and a small dagger.
