Greetings from Herman!

Hello everyone!

You can call me herman Lasichin, or you can call me literally anything else, many people mess up my names / usernames and I have sort of embraced it haha. I discovered VI by typing some random words into my search engine of choice and it brought me here. I haven't read redwall nor am familiar with the prior iterations of this forum, but reading what people here are writing made me very intreagued, and today I finally decided to make my first step into this place.

I'm a college student in my early twenties, studying applied math. I'm from a part of the world I like to call southcentraleastern Europe. I have been writing creatively since I was very little, I actually learned to touch type as a kid by just opening up notepad and typing out random stories in there, we would then print those out and a part of me hopes that we still keep those printouts somewhere, even though I would probably cringe very hard at them today. I don't get to explore writing as much as I'd like to these days, but I do roleplay with various people online, but this is the first time I am joining a community like this.

There are all sorts of subjects that I'm very passionate about and interested in. Programming, music production which actually has a lot in common with programming, linguistics, card games and board games, history, theoretical mathematics and logic, and there are certainly more that I can't remember right now but will remember later and then I'll yell at myself about how I forgot the most important thing. I always had a fondness for animals and animal-like characters, foxes are a big favorite of mine but so are many others at this point. My family has two dogs and two cats and we are crazy about how much we adore them. I think my favorite story with those kinds of characters is the story of Reynard the fox, a terribly underrated cycle of fables. Of course, there are also plenty of classics I like to revisit from time to time, I'm not sure which are by which authors right off the top of my head but there's one about a fox and a raven where the fox makes the raven sing and drop its cheese that always stuck with me somehow. Other things I liked to read included The trial, crime and punishment, various Jack Reacher novels, a bunch of Sherlock holmes and Agatha Christi especially when I was younger, and various more (would like if I could namedrop some other of my favorite books but unfortunately that would immediately give away my location and sadly most of them aren't translated). Unfortunately these days I struggle to keep myself focused on a single book, but I need to get myself into a better habbit.

I think that's all I can think of right now for my introduction. I will see about writing up something for my character, either later this evening or tomorrow. Either way, I'm so glad to have found you all and wish you all the best.

Welcome, Herman! Amazing to hear of so many passions. I'm sure a bunch around here can say the same but I too grew up dabbling a lot with writing from a young age and have always had such a big love of animals and animal-centric stories. Though I'm not much of a realist I do love a good crime story (albeit most of which I've watched on TV rather than read XD). Yay for board games and linguistics, big fan here also hehe. So many of us are huge geeks/nerds so a very big welcome to you and I hope you enjoy the experience here xxx
