BIOGRAPHY:
That is why his parents sent him to the military much earlier than he should've been allowed to. His size was enough to convince the recruiters and his parents pushed for it, since they were just afraid of their child.
They couldn't anticipate what monster their decision would create.
Friedrich hated being in the military, but he had no choice now that his parents basically left him. He channelled his disdain for everyone and everything into his new occupation. Soon it was clear that having a bloodthirsty giant rabbit was a boon to any unit. When the Revolutions came, He was not much caring about who he was fighting for. He was following orders an yet he ended up often seen wading through gore left by his warhammer, fascinated by the corpses and still taking almost sickening pleasure from slaughter.
At the same time, what he saw and experienced made him very aware of how beast's body works. He was bringing death to his enemies more and more efficiently while using his skill to patch up his allies. With time as the war became worse and worse, he got to operate his comrades. Due to general violence and rather high mortality, not many officers or his fellow soldiers cared for ethicality of his procedures. They were bold, saving many beasts, but they were also brutal. And Friedrich sadistic tendencies were not making them any easier.
„The Bloodletter” as he was known among the other soldiers was taking quite a lot of prisoners, most of which didn’t survive his experiments. He grew more and more detached thanks to all of that. With time he had fully researched the bodies and how they work with extreme precision. It is impossible how many have suffered the unspeakable fates to sate his curiosity.
When the war ended, he avoided any punishment because all his comrades vouched for him. He was known as great, if brutal warrior and amazing surgeon. He went on to get his licence and he did so easily, unsettling many with how precise and detailed his answers were. He knew things, he had skills, and thanks to some luck, the world didn’t know about his atrocities. But to be extra cautious, Friedrich left the army and opened his own clinic for veterans. There, he continued to save lives, often with very experimental procedures.
But while many vouched for him or would say he was great, not a single beast would call him anything but hard to talk with. For shorter conversations, he was manageable, but reasonably so everyone avoided becoming any closer with him. That is before he met Leo. A fellow veteran who ended up in his clinic after getting stabbed multiple times in a bar fight. Friedrich did save him form an abysmal state and Leo, despite obvious flaws of the surgeon, grew attached to him.
And that was for the best. Leo, with time, did manage to tame the infamous Bloodletter. As such, Friedrich became much more sociable and friendly. He did after all experienced genuine care he missed for the better part of his life. That did change his behaviour and approach, especially towards Leo who after withstanding the worst, could now enjoy the best Friedrich had to offer. Leo did sire a child for them through a surrogate and Friedrich was even a good father to their son. It all however couldn’t last.
Friedrich could be changed, but at the core? He was the same. He did offer free help to the poorest of beasts in his clinic. Not out of compassion, he was just needing more test subjects and he knew that not many would care for the poor. Leo, who knew not of the atrocities in his lover past, couldn’t withstand learning about it and run away with their son when the truth came out.
Friedrich was devastated, he couldn’t understand why his deeds were bad. The world in his eyes was not a place where compassion ruled. After processing the pain, he knew that there was only one joy he had in life left. But he did expect the soldiers to come any time for him and, rationally, he decided to rejoin the military, this time going with the navy, trying to escape his fate.
One that wouldn’t come, for Leo did not tell a beast about what he witnessed, still loving the monster he tamed.
