PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:​

Scruffy-furred dark brown ferret who wears smart suits. Goes barefooted or in ankle-hugging slippers. In winter he turns fully bright white. He’s young and handsome but something in his eyes infers he’s extremely old and from very far away. He’s not, he’s just weird. Donkey occasionally wears strange things he has found around the Harbour that he considers useful, and only if he can’t fit them in his pockets. In the middle of the week he wears a long multicoloured scarf. He tends to have to knit them several times a year owing to how many get stolen, damaged, or used to almost strangle him.​

PERSONALITY:​

Varied. One day Donkey is extremely social and friendly with the curiosity of a child, another he might be grouchy, hermity, and completely lost in his ‘work’. He has a passion for collecting things, meeting people, helping out, and building things. In general, he is a kindly soul who is interested in others and likes to help, but he’s absent-minded, sometimes arrogant, selfish, and dramatic.​

WEAKNESSES:​

• Most of his inventions don’t actually work. Hard to say if that annoys MinoInn more or less
• Delusional – he thinks he’s from another planet and will go on at length about things that aren’t true
• Unreliable – he says he’ll show up but he might leave you waiting or get distracted by the next adventure or even get you killed
• Lacks strength – he thinks he can handle almost anything, he probably wouldn’t win a Weedy Arms wrestling bout

BIOGRAPHY:​

No one knows his past. Not even Donkey, or as he may sometimes call himself ‘Doctor’. Since he hasn’t proven himself a doctor of anything and he’s well known for strange clanking sounds inside his painted blue shed, locals call him Donkey. One day his small shed just appeared on a muddy verge outside Bully’s section of Ministry of Innovation with the word Fogey Box painted at the top. This is especially strange because he insists he is not a Fogey and doesn’t want to join them either. He might tell you he came from the stars if he likes you. The right greased paws will confirm he came in on a ship two years ago. A normal ship.

On attempting to coax out anything about his past or childhood, Donkey will go quiet or change the conversation, indicating deep trauma, if that wasn’t already clear from his behaviour.

He appears to be highly gifted, at least in conversation, languages, and science. Some of said science doesn’t appear to be actually possible. Donkey spends much of his time tinkering and building gadgets. He refuses to cooperate with or join the Ministry of Innovation and the only reason they haven’t kept him arrested or worse is that on the rare occasions he makes anything that actually works they know they can confiscate it and the rest of the time it’s just nonsense that doesn’t do what he claims.

Now and again he will charm someone into spending time with him on an adventure. He will call them his ‘companion’ and, eventually, get a verbal, physical, or emotional kick in the nards before he’s alone again. Sometimes he prefers it that way.
