Physical Description
Piper is a brown weasel with an off-white muzzle and stomach, her headfur kept relatively short and tied back behind her head in a tight bun that conforms with current regulations for the marines. She wears the blue and gold uniform of the marines while on duty, and, given her newfound difficulties in dressing herself, tends to wear the same off duty as well. Usually she is seen in one of the ambulatory devices made for her by the crew of the Hide to help in performance of her duties and improvement of her quality of life, frequently holding the young shrew pup she adopted during the siege of Urk.

Inventory and Real Estate
-Gear for cleaning and maintaining standard issue Imperial weaponry
-Kit care supplies, including spare nappies and bottled kit feed
-Custom-made wheelchair

Personality
Despite the grief instilled by loss of motion in her legs, Piper tends to adopt a positive attitude, focusing more on what she can do than what she can't. She's especially put that focus on caring for the shrew pup now resident on the Hide, which she is doing her best to mother. She has an earnestness about her coupled with a stubborn streak a mile long, making her prone to speak her mind when she disagrees with orders. Off duty, she's a good listener and an attentive friend, especially when it comes to supporting her crewmate and friend Vihma, including in training her to be the new sharpshooter for the marines.
Strengths
Piper's resolve is by far and away her biggest strength, keeping her from giving up on herself or those around her. Despite the new challenges that have come into her life, she's persevered, and is intent upon proving herself more than capable of rising to the challenges. While she's now removed from her role as a crack shot, she's still talented with a crossbow and can shoot well in a pinch.
Weaknesses
Piper's recent confinement to a wheelchair limits her mobility, especially aboard the Hide, where she is largely limited to the spaces made accessible by the accommodations installed by her fellow crewbeasts. On a personal level, her stubbornness can often land her in trouble when she skirts or defies orders given to her, running the risk of outright insubordination.
History
Sarra Piper's life, at least for the early part, looked not unlike that of many young weasels from the Imperial Barracks. Born to a military family, she grew up shuttled between the care of her parents (when not deployed) and that of her grandparents, who, being retired military themselves, raised Piper to honor the traditions of the army and navy both. As a youth, at a military parade following the coronation of the new Empress, the young Piper saw a marine detachment marching for the first time, and immediately was struck by an ambition to join them. The marines, created as an elite landing force during the Alkamarian Wars, were considered the best of the best, combining naval and army tactics in a unique combination, and Piper was determined to make the cut. Fortunately for her, in applying to join the military, she proved herself to have good paw-eye coordination and excellent aim, which funneled her into the sharpshooter program.

While in training, Piper came under the instruction of an archery trainer named Corvan Harrow, and, despite the impropriety of fraternizing with a senior officer, the pair struck up a quiet romance. When Piper graduated from the sharpshooting program and went into military service, they moved their relationship into the open and, within a year, got married in a small military ceremony. Their relationship quickly mimicked that of Piper's own parents, the pair meeting up briefly between deployments, then going back in the field. When Piper discovered she was pregnant, she took a medical leave of absence while Corvan stayed on active duty, and extended that leave for a few more months to care for her newborn daughter Emilie. Eventually, though, she was required to return to active duty, and she reluctantly turned over care of Emilie to her own parents and grandparents to help raise while she was away.

Piper was an excellent soldier, her skill as a marksbeast quickly earning her an invitation to join the marines under the command of Lieutenant Tultow, a veteran of the Alkamarian Wars who took her under his wing. While in port, Piper always rushed home to see her daughter, devoting herself to caring for Emilie whenever possible. Her marriage to Corvan suffered slightly during this time, largely since the pair didn't have much spare time to see each other outside of their duties as soldiers and parents, though there were some insipient issues with Corvan's jealousy and Piper's emotional dependence on her daughter. Still, they were managing to make it work, and for several years, it looked like they might even become model military parents.

Piper was away on a deployment when tragedy struck. It wasn't until she came home that she found out that Emilie, out playing with some friends on the docks, had slipped and fallen, striking her head on the way down and drowning in the harbor. Piper wasn't even aware of the funeral until two weeks after it was over. She fell into a deep depression, taking several months bereavement leave to mourn the loss of her daughter. Corvan coped in his own way, volunteering for an extended deployment on the Mahsterious Sahthern Cahntinent that would put distance between him and the family he'd lost, and was still in the process of losing. The pair haven't talked in the three years since losing their daughter, though at least on paper they still remain married; neither has yet filed papers for divorce.

Piper eventually returned to the marines, returning to the command of Lieutenant Tultow and resuming her role as sharpshooter for his unit. When her unit was deployed on an expedition to the island of Urk to protect the Minister of Innovation and help secure a beachhead, Piper was among the first footpaws on the rocky beach, and, along with navybeasts Vihmastaja Rhoodie and Greeneye, was involved in scouting the remnants of a village belonging to the native shrews. During this scouting trip they found a shrew pup seemingly orphaned by the Hide's attack on the village, which Piper immediately attached herself to. Despite the misgivings of the crew, she brought the pup back to camp and, despite the protestations and warnings of several of the officers, she stubbornly got them to agree to at least care for the kit while they were on the island.

During the subsequent counterattack by the shrew natives of Urk, Piper took a severe blow, one that damaged her spine just above the hips. During treatment it was determined that she'd lost all feeling and motor control in her lower limbs, leaving her paraplegic. Out of the fight, she spent the remainder of the siege and their frantic retreat from the island focused on caring for the shrew pup, which they brought back with them to the Hide when safe return of the pup to its own kind became implausible. Since Urk, Piper has been focused partially on learning how to move on her own without use of her legs, and partially on caring for and protecting the shrew pup now under their care and protection. She's also been building her friendship with navybeast Vihma, who may soon be moving into the marines and taking over Piper's old position as sharpshooter.
