Beating Day
Celebrated on Dismembre 12th, Beating Day is a cherished holiday where all beatings, sans those against senior government officials such as the Empress and her ministers or those which result in death, are officially legalized for a period of one day. No one knows the origin of the holiday, but it is theorized to have been a product of the psychology department of the University of Length, the idea being that if beasts are allowed to legally air their frustrations for one day, it would lower crime for the upcoming year. No one knows if this has actually been effective, but the citizenry certainly loves the chance to settle scores going into the new year.
